Cancer is a scary word. Hearing you or a loved one has cancer sets your head spinning and makes it hard to listen to anything else the doctor says. Once the shock wears off, that’s when you’re ready to learn more about your diagnosis and how to fight it.
Unfortunately, at that point you’ve probably forgotten everything the doctor said. Hopefully you had someone with you who was able to take notes and remember, but often that’s not the case.
If you’re like many people, you turn to the internet … where you’re faced with too many search results and no idea which ones have the answers you need.
Where to start? Right here on SearchMyDiagnosis.com.
This is not an exhaustive list of sites (You can find long lists of links just about anywhere). It’s a place to begin your search without having to think too hard. We group the resources by type (information overviews, support groups, etc). Then we explain a little about what you can expect to find there. Simple!
As you learn more, you’ll feel more confident, and you’ll be able to identify other sources to meet your unique needs. We have some tips for identifying good sources, if you need some help.
Just remember, only you can decide if a particular site is what you need. And always talk with your doctor about what you find.
We’ve started with the most common cancers, plus a few less common ones. They’re listed in alphabetical order.
